Clue Software Appoints Eshelby as Head of Economic Crime Amidst Growing Global Fraud Concerns
Clue Software, a top-tier provider of intelligence and investigations management software, has announced the appointment of Laura Eshelby as the new Head of Economic Crime. Eshelby, a renowned counter-fraud expert, brings a wealth of experience to Clue after a decade at the Cabinet Office, where she most recently served as Deputy Director for Practice, Standards and Capability within the Public Sector Fraud Authority.
Strong Growth and Expansion for Clue
Clue Software has enjoyed a period of remarkable growth, having secured £4 million in funding during February 2024, led by Frog Capital. This financial boost has helped Clue expand rapidly, with the company tripling its Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) over the past four years. Notably, there has been a 50% surge in ARR in the last 12 months alone, demonstrating Clue’s rapid ascent in the investigations software market.
This impressive growth has been accompanied by a significant expansion of Clue’s client base, which now serves over 5,500 users globally. Recent high-profile client acquisitions include a major UK government regulator, one of the world’s top 10 revenue-generating retailers, and a prominent UK sports governing body. Additionally, Clue has increased its footprint within the UK public sector and secured major deals in the United States, including business with one of the ‘Big Four’ tech giants.
Eshelby to Lead the Fight Against Economic Crime
As Head of Economic Crime, Eshelby will be tasked with expanding Clue’s influence across both the public and private sectors. Her appointment comes at a critical time, as fraud continues to rise, with recent reports indicating a doubling of fraud cases over the past year, now estimated at £2.3 billion. Eshelby is well-positioned to address these challenges, having played a pivotal role in shaping the UK government’s fraud strategy. She recognises the value of platforms like Clue in the fight against economic crime and fraud.
With over 23 years of experience in the field, both in the UK and internationally, Eshelby has a proven track record in countering fraud. Her previous achievements include leading the creation of the Government Counter Fraud Profession and chairing the Cross-Sector Advisory Group within the Public Sector Fraud Authority.
Eshelby’s Vision for Clue
Commenting on her new role, Laura Eshelby, Head of Economic Crime at Clue, said: “Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to understanding and combating fraud and corruption. The opportunity to work with Clue is an exciting one, as their mission and values, particularly their commitment to safeguarding and counter-corruption, align perfectly with my own.
