Today, RSA, a leader in identity security, has announced an innovative partnership with Swissbit, a renowned manufacturer of storage, security, and IoT solutions, to introduce the RSA iShield Key 2 series. This next-generation hardware authenticator is crafted to meet the security needs of highly regulated industries, providing a robust, phishing-resistant, passwordless authentication system essential for advancing Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) initiatives. With this solution, RSA and Swissbit aim to enhance security across finance, healthcare, energy, and other sectors that demand stringent credential management and seamless protection against sophisticated cyber threats.

    Cutting-Edge Security for High-Risk Sectors

With a design powered by Swissbit technology, the RSA iShield Key 2 series seamlessly integrates with RSA’s cloud-based identity and access management platform, RSA® ID Plus. It equips high-risk organizations with flexible, state-of-the-art authentication tools capable of safeguarding against increasingly sophisticated phishing attempts and cyber threats.

“This new solution offers a crucial step forward in securing critical sectors,” noted Rohit Ghai, CEO of RSA. “For decades, security-first leaders have trusted RSA to protect them from cyberattacks that threaten their operations. By working with Swissbit, we are able to deliver solutions like the RSA iShield Key 2 that expand our unified identity platform and address the advanced security needs of industries in the private sector.”

Swissbit CEO Silvio Muschter added, “Finance, healthcare, energy, and manufacturing sectors face daily security challenges requiring phishing-resistant technologies to secure operations and minimise risk. With this collaboration, RSA and Swissbit are creating a solution that meets these critical demands and secures organisations’ vital assets.”

Key Benefits of the RSA iShield Key 2 Series

The RSA iShield Key 2 series, available through the RSA ID Plus platform, offers essential capabilities that enhance security and optimise performance for organisations that need maximum protection and flexibility:

    1. Phishing-Resistant, Multi-Protocol MFA
Supporting FIDO2, smart card, and OTP for legacy systems, the RSA iShield Key 2 series provides organisations with multi-protocol multi-factor authentication (MFA) to accommodate a diverse range of users and applications. The RSA DS100, the RSA Authenticator App, and the RSA iShield Key 2 work together to offer an unmatched level of protection against phishing and fraud.
    2. FIPS 140-3 Validated Security
The RSA iShield Key 2 series provides top-tier cryptographic standards through its FIPS 140-3 validation, a critical requirement for organisations requiring strict cybersecurity compliance.
    3. Advancing Zero Trust Architecture
RSA ID Plus enables organisations to move towards a Zero Trust Architecture with features that support credential centralisation and provide clear visibility over all access points. These tools are crucial for industries striving to meet stringent ZTA requirements.
    4. Enhanced SSO and Self-Service Features
With single sign-on (SSO) and self-service capabilities, RSA ID Plus allows users to manage, register, and update credentials autonomously, significantly reducing the workload on IT teams and facilitating productivity.

    Availability and Customer Support

The RSA iShield Key 2 series, powered by Swissbit, is available for immediate order, with shipping expected to commence by Q4 2024. RSA and Swissbit are dedicated to supporting customers throughout their implementation process, offering extensive training and comprehensive support to ensure a smooth integration of the RSA iShield Key 2 series into existing security frameworks. As these industries face increasingly complex cyber threats, RSA and Swissbit remain committed to delivering top-tier security innovations that empower organisations to strengthen their defences and meet today’s advanced security requirements.
