Building on a Successful Relaunch
This past spring, Donna Karan New York breathed new life into its story and legacy with the “In Women We Trust” campaign. The campaign showcased women from various generations as brand narrators, striking a chord with a wide audience and instantly revitalising the brand’s appeal. Now, Donna Karan enhances its storytelling for Fall 2024, embracing the dimensional nature of women—strong yet sensual, powerful, and passionate. This emotional connection has always been a strength of the brand, offering a unique opportunity for further distinction. From apparel to accessories, the line exudes glamour, elegance, and versatility, reflecting an accessible luxury positioning that resonates with the needs of today’s women.
A Nod to New York
The Fall 2024 Collection draws inspiration from New York, an endless source of creativity. The urban landscape is echoed through various elements, whether the predominantly black and gray palette punctuated with vibrant accents or the liquid satin that mimics wet pavement. As the collection transitions to olive green and gold hues, it evokes the changing colors of leaves with sunlight filtering through the trees. The season is further highlighted through the use of burnout fabrics, richly textured jacquards, along with soft leather and suede. Architectural lines take shape in dresses with angles and cutouts, contouring and enhancing the body. This vision of New York after dark features expanses of black, illuminated by gleaming streaks of gold.
Introducing an Iconic Group
‘Reflections on Women’ showcases a remarkable ensemble of eight iconic women, each with deep ties to the brand: Christy Turlington, Amber Valletta, Alek Wek, Karen Elson, Imaan Hammam, Eva Herzigova, Edie Campbell, and Liu Wen. Photographer Mikael Jansson captures each of them, representing distinct facets of womanhood. Jansson, a leading fashion image-maker with a 25+ year relationship with the brand, has an inherent understanding of its DNA.
A 360-Degree Campaign Rollout
The Donna Karan New York campaign will roll out across all Donna Karan social channels today, highlighting this new group of iconic women sharing their individual stories. The campaign will be amplified with a 360-degree approach across North America through a diversified media mix, including high-visibility digital, print, and premium outdoor placements.
