Duckhams Clinches Silver-Am Title in the 2024 British GT Championship

Duckhams drivers Adam Smalley and Shaun Balfe have emerged as the 2024 British GT Silver-Am class champions, securing the title with two rounds still to go. This early victory is a testament to the team’s exceptional consistency and performance throughout the season, highlighted by six significant wins.

    Championship Secured at Snetterton

Rounds six and seven at Snetterton proved pivotal as the Duckhams team accumulated enough points to ensure an unbeatable lead in their class. Their decisive performance in these rounds means they have clinched the championship two months before the season concludes. Adam Smalley, already a British Champion with titles like the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup GB under his belt, adds another prestigious victory to his record.

Reflecting on the win, Smalley said, “Securing the Silver-Am title with two rounds to spare is an incredible feeling. The last race was particularly challenging, but we managed to stay out of trouble while others did not. Shaun’s strong performance in both stints was crucial, and I’m thrilled with the outcome. A big thank you to everyone involved for making this season unforgettable.”

Celebrating a 90-Year Legacy in Motorsports

Duckhams, a brand with a rich history stretching back 125 years, has been synonymous with success on the racetrack. Their motorsports journey began in 1934 when W. G. Everitt set a world record at Brooklands in a Duckhams-lubricated MG. Over the decades, Duckhams has celebrated numerous victories across various motorsport disciplines, including Formula 1, rallying, touring cars, and superbikes.

In 2023, Duckhams continued its winning tradition with Adam Smalley’s victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and the Duckhams-supported BRIC Superbike team’s championship win in Thailand.

    A Season of Triumphs

The 2024 season began on a high note for the Duckhams team with two Silver-Am class wins at the opening round in Oulton Park. This strong start set the stage for further successes, including a prestigious victory at Silverstone, where the team claimed the RAC Trophy.

In May, the team faced tough conditions at Donington Park but managed to secure their fourth class win of the season, further solidifying their championship lead. The historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium hosted the fifth round, where Duckhams continued their winning streak, leaving with yet more accolades and a commanding lead in the standings.

With their success in the Silver-Am class secured, the Duckhams team is now concentrating on claiming the overall British GT Championship title. They are just 21 points behind the leaders, making the final rounds at Donington Park on September 7th-8th and Brands Hatch on September 28th-29th crucial for their campaign. The team’s success this season has been a testament to their dedication and skill, and they are poised to finish strong.

    Statement from Duckhams

Rajat Moirta, Duckhams’ Chief Marketing Officer, expressed pride in the team’s achievements, saying, “Duckhams has always been about excellence in motorsports, and Adam Smalley exemplifies this spirit. His determination and skill have led us to this victory, and we are excited about what the future holds. Duckhams is committed to supporting champions and continuing our legacy of success.”
