Hikvision made a significant impact at the ITS World Congress 2024 in Dubai, under the compelling theme, “Embrace AIoT for Safer, Smarter, and Greener Mobility.” At the event, their booth became a focal point of innovation, showcasing the transformative potential of AIoT solutions. Visitors engaged in discussions exploring how these advanced technologies are shaping the future of urban mobility.
Revolutionising Road Safety with AIoT-Driven Solutions
Hikvision’s unwavering commitment to road safety was showcased through a range of AIoT solutions designed to ensure safer and more reliable traffic environments. These cutting-edge technologies enable continuous, real-time traffic monitoring, covering motor vehicles, pedestrians, non-motorised vehicles, and environmental factors. This constant stream of information supports traffic managers in preventing accidents and enhancing overall road safety.
Among the innovative technologies displayed was the 20 MP IR ANPR Checkpoint Capture Unit, celebrated for its high-definition traffic capture capabilities. This unit strengthens traffic safety by providing detailed images for analysis. In addition, Hikvision integrated advanced radar and camera systems to guarantee uninterrupted detection, even under adverse weather conditions. The Radar-Video Fusion Incident Detection Cameras offered early hazard detection, making them especially useful on curved roads, at intersection blind spots, and for obstacles beyond the line of sight.
Visitors also experienced Hikvision’s onboard monitoring products, such as dome network cameras on a simulated bus. These products enhance passenger safety by offering real-time monitoring. In addition, the Driver Status Monitor (DSM) was demonstrated, showing how it mitigates unsafe driving behaviours, leading to safer travel.
Smart Traffic Innovations Redefining Urban Mobility
Hikvision also displayed its smart traffic innovations, highlighting the potential of multidimensional sensing technologies. This technology integrates visible light sensors, infrared, radar, and sonar to enhance traffic awareness, leading to more effective traffic control and improved situational monitoring. Through AI-powered sensing, incident monitoring and violation detection reached new levels of accuracy and efficiency.
The Radar-Video Fusion TandemVu PTZ Camera, one of the key attractions, integrates millimetre-wave radar with high-resolution cameras for advanced traffic detection and analysis. By utilising AI-based algorithms, this system can detect up to 16 types of incidents, providing valuable data for traffic management. It develops a comprehensive fusion model, combining spatial and semantic information to achieve ultra-long-range perception, with over 95% accuracy in detecting vehicle trajectories. This technology significantly improves traffic flow and violation management.
At the simulated bus station, visitors were impressed by AI-driven people counting technology, which automated the collection of passenger flow statistics during peak hours. This solution, paired with digital signage at smart bus stops, improves service quality, operational efficiency, and the overall passenger experience, contributing to more effective public transport systems.
Driving Sustainability with Greener Mobility Solutions
Hikvision demonstrated its commitment to sustainable transportation with its innovative green wave technology and environmentally friendly checkpoint solutions. These innovations optimise traffic flow, reducing both congestion and carbon emissions, in line with global sustainability targets. A prominent case study, featuring Zhoushan, China, demonstrated the success of green wave technology over a 21-kilometre road with 34 intersections, cutting travel times by half.
Another highlight was the DarkFighterX technology, which senses both visible and invisible light. This technology enhances the accuracy of traffic violation enforcement and reduces light pollution, thanks to its ability to operate in low-light conditions. The 9M DarkFighterX ANPR Checkpoint Camera, in particular, exemplified Hikvision’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Frank Zhang, President of Hikvision MEA, emphasised the company’s dedication to greener urban mobility, stating, “Hikvision empowers traffic departments to tackle congestion and transport challenges, supporting sustainable urban planning.” He further added, “Our open systems create secure, reliable platforms for building smarter, greener cities. Additionally, our solar-powered solutions are used extensively in remote areas, and our smart street lighting technology reduces energy consumption by 20-30%, helping achieve global sustainability goals.”
