The event was attended by executives from Universal Music Greater China (UMGC), who honoured Cheung with a special tribute for his immense contributions to the music industry. His career, spanning nearly four decades, has seen him perform in over 100 cities across 18 countries and regions, attracting millions of devoted fans.
A Musical Journey Spanning 38 Years
Jacky Cheung’s touring career began in 1987 with his Jacky Cheung 87 Concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Over the years, he has captivated audiences with ten extensive world tours, each pushing new boundaries in live entertainment. His performances have played a key role in bringing Chinese pop music to an international audience, demonstrating its cultural significance on the global stage.
Throughout his career, Cheung has repeatedly set new records. In 1995, his Friends World Tour became the first by a Chinese artist to reach 100 shows. His 1/2 Century World Tour (2010–2012) attracted over two million attendees within a year, earning him a Guinness World Record for the largest combined audience for a live act in 12 months.
