Modern Italian Seafood Restaurant and Aperitivo Bar Opens in Notting Hill
Notting Hill welcomes a new dining experience with the opening of Fish & Bubbles, a modern Italian seafood restaurant and aperitivo bar. The Corsaro brothers, known for La Mia Mamma, have brought this unique concept to Kensington Park Road. The restaurant features gourmet seafood panini, extensive fritto misto sharing boards, and an assortment of negronis and sparkling drinks.
A Taste of Italian Seaside Life
Fish & Bubbles, led by Peppe and Angelo Corsaro, promises an authentic Italian seaside dining experience. By securing excellent deals with fishermen, the restaurant provides value-led dining with a genuine taste of Italian culture. Diners can enjoy fresh, vibrant dishes that transport them to the beachside tavernas of Sicily, Puglia, Sardinia, and the Amalfi coast.
Casual Lunches and Evening Transformation
During the day, Fish & Bubbles serves casual lunches and light bites. In the evening, the restaurant transforms into an intimate aperitivo bar with dimmed lights and candles, creating the perfect atmosphere for catching up with friends over delicious food and cocktails at reasonable prices.
Unique “Panino di Mare” Menu
The “panino di mare” menu features traditional freshly baked Italian rosetta buns filled with impeccably sourced fish and seafood. Highlights include:
Polp Fiction: Octopus in a rustic Apulian tomato and basil sauce, fried crisps, nduja, and mascarpone mayo (£16.50).
Sicilian Spadino: Swordfish cutlet, marinated courgettes, Apulian capocollo, roasted pepper cream, ricotta, and lemon mousse (£15).
Tuna Turner: Tuna tartare with cacio e pepe and basil cream, sweet and sour courgette carpaccio, roasted tomato, stracciatella di burrata cheese, and rocket (£14).
Embracing the Aperitivo Tradition
The aperitivo, a cherished Italian tradition, is celebrated at Fish & Bubbles. The restaurant offers generous sharing boards (£18 per person, minimum two diners), including:
Fritto Misto al Metro: An impressive selection of fried seafood served by the metre on a long wooden board.
Tagliere di Mare: Tuna tartare, swordfish caponata, Sicilian panelle chickpea fritters, fish balls, and a mini poké.
These boards are paired with a glass of prosecco or a negroni, available from 12pm to 7pm daily.
Italian Fish Tapas and More
The menu also includes Italian fish tapas, such as cod with smoked mozzarella in tempura batter, marinated anchovies, and salads. Creative Italian poké bowls, like the Tuscan Sun with fresh tuna tartare, garden peas, cucumber, roasted tomatoes, red pepper hummus, carrots, chilli, and pearl barley (£13.95), are also available.
Crudi di Mare and Bruschetta
Fish & Bubbles offers a selection of crudi di mare, including salmon and tuna tartare, as well as Gambero Rosso. The bruschetta, crafted with freshly baked focaccia and adorned with prawns, stracciatella, and cured pork, is a highlight.
Italian Street Food Style
For those on the go, the restaurant serves fried fish in paper cones, with options like Calamari Fritti, Fish & Chips, or Fritto Misto.
Aperitifs and Italian Wines
The bar team mixes £7 aged negronis, including the sea salt Panarea and the Capri with prosecco. Other aperitifs like Hugo and Aperol spritzes are available, along with an exclusively Italian wine list featuring bubbles, reds, whites, and rosé.
Location and Atmosphere
Fish & Bubbles is located in one of West London’s most sought-after neighbourhoods, moments from Portobello Road. The restaurant is dog-friendly for well-behaved pups. The interiors reflect its coastal roots with white-washed walls, exposed brickwork, natural woods, draped fishing nets, and Italian ceramics.
