Shenzhen-Milan Bi-City Fashion Week:
The Shenzhen-Milan Bi-City Fashion Week kicked off on March 20 in Nanshan, Shenzhen, with a series of fashion-forward events that promise to reshape the fashion industry. The week-long celebration features an intimate fashion salon, the eagerly anticipated Nanshan fashion parade, a pioneering cloud runway show, an elegantly themed fashion night, and a breathtaking drone show. A key highlight of the Fashion Week is the debut of the promotional short film “NANSHAN NEW LOOK,” which pays tribute to Nanshan’s rich sartorial culture.
Shenzhen-Milan New Fashion Art Exhibition:
One of the most anticipated events is the Shenzhen-Milan New Fashion Art Exhibition, taking place in Nanshan District’s historic Nantou area on April 14. This exhibition brings together nine emerging fashion brands from Nanshan and Milan, including Italian designers VIA PIAVE 33, Meltin’ Pot, Alessandro Enriquez, ALABAMA MUSE, and FRANCESCA BELLAVITA, alongside Nanshan’s own CHAU•RISING, PERMU, PANTTERFLY, and Lynn Gong. The exhibit showcases a diverse array of styles, from the latest in prêt-à-porter to timeless classics, artisanal crafts, immersive art installations, and multimedia presentations.
A Historic Setting for a Modern Event
Hosted in Nantou, an area steeped in history dating back nearly 1,700 years, the exhibition highlights Shenzhen’s multicultural heritage, now revitalized through thoughtful preservation efforts. The event’s historical backdrop adds a unique charm, blending the old with the new in a celebration of fashion and culture.
Strengthening Cultural Ties Between Milan and Nanshan
During the event, a significant memorandum of cooperation was signed by a Nanshan District government representative and Maria Rosa Azzolina, President of the Italy-China Institute. This agreement marks a deepened commitment to fostering cultural and economic ties between Milan and Nanshan, underscoring the global interconnectedness of the fashion industry.
Innovating with the “Cloud Show”
Nanshan’s Vision for the Future of Fashion
Nanshan’s commitment to transforming the fashion landscape is evident through the introduction of a bold strategy to foster original designer brands. This initiative is designed to revitalise the fashion economy, encourage the growth of new independent labels, and elevate China’s homegrown design industry to international prominence. With its strong foundation, the district is set to become a magnet for international fashion brands, paving the way for emerging labels to make their mark on the domestic and global fashion scenes.
