Tarana and Winncom Technologies Announce the Launch of the G1 Broadband Platform in the UK

Tarana and Winncom Technologies have officially introduced the G1, Tarana’s next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) broadband platform, to the United Kingdom. The G1 is fully compliant with the 5 GHz spectrum, and UK-based internet service providers (ISPs) can now place their orders through Winncom, a leading global distributor of broadband technology.

Introducing the World’s First ngFWA Technology

The G1 platform is the world’s first solution utilizing ngFWA technology, designed to overcome long-standing challenges in broadband delivery. It excels in providing high-performance connectivity, even in environments with physical obstructions, radio interference, and distances of up to 15 kilometers. This breakthrough enables the G1 to deliver fiber-quality broadband in non-line-of-sight (NLoS) conditions, a significant leap forward for broadband technology.

    A Broader Expansion Across Europe

While the UK is the first European country to deploy Tarana’s ngFWA technology, it will soon be available in many EU countries, continuing its expansion across the continent. This launch marks the beginning of a new era in European broadband accessibility. Tarana’s ngFWA technology is already being used in 23 countries by over 250 ISPs, providing reliable and high-speed internet services to communities worldwide.

    Addressing the UK’s Broadband Goals

In 2019, the UK government established an ambitious objective to deliver gigabit-capable broadband connectivity to all premises across the nation by the year 2025. This was later adjusted to 85%, leaving around 4 million homes and businesses classified as “very hard-to-reach” (VHTR) without guaranteed high-speed internet access. The revised goal, often referred to as “25 by 25,” covers 85% of the UK’s 29 million premises, equivalent to approximately 25 million locations. However, it leaves rural areas vulnerable to exclusion from reliable broadband services.

    Empowering Rural Communities with ngFWA

Tarana’s ngFWA technology offers a solution to this problem by enabling UK service providers to deliver broadband speeds of up to 600 Mbps to these hard-to-reach areas. Unlike traditional wired connectivity solutions, which often come with significant costs and long deployment timelines, ngFWA offers a faster, more efficient way to bridge the digital divide for rural communities.

    Industry Leaders’ Perspective

Igor Kurochkin, Winncom’s Vice President of Global Vendor Management & Marketing, shared his excitement about the launch, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce the Tarana G1 to our product lineup in the UK, with plans to extend it across Europe shortly. The platform, already operational in several other continents, empowers our clients to provide high-speed broadband affordably, helping to close the digital divide more effectively.”

Basil Alwan, CEO of Tarana, echoed this enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to officially extend the G1 platform’s reach into Europe and greatly value our ongoing partnership with Winncom. Our ngFWA technology is set to make a significant impact, especially for underserved areas in the UK and across the region.”

    A Step Toward Universal Connectivity

As the UK moves toward achieving its broadband coverage goals, technologies like ngFWA will play a crucial role in ensuring that rural and underserved communities are not left behind. With Tarana and Winncom’s collaboration, the future of broadband in the UK and across Europe looks promising, with more people gaining access to high-speed, reliable internet connections.
