Pure Lithium Corporation, a leading force in lithium metal battery technology, has announced the acquisition of all assets from Dimien Inc., a private U.S.-based vanadium cathode materials company. This strategic acquisition includes Dimien’s intellectual property, manufacturing equipment, and their experienced team, further accelerating Pure Lithium’s development of its lithium metal vanadium (LVO) battery technology.

    Advanced Vanadium Cathode Technology

Dimien Inc. is known for its innovation in developing zeta vanadium oxide (ZVO), a new class of vanadium-based cathode materials. ZVO is recognized for its high energy density and fire-safe composition, distinguishing it from traditional nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) and nickel-cobalt-aluminum (NCA) cathodes. Importantly, this cathode technology is produced from North American-sourced materials, eliminating the reliance on minerals like nickel, cobalt, and graphite, which face future supply risks and often come from less secure regions.

By integrating Dimien’s technology, Pure Lithium aims to provide a safer and more sustainable alternative to current battery systems, further enhancing the performance of its lithium metal batteries.

    Leadership Expansion with Dimien Experts

As part of this acquisition, Dimien’s Founder and CEO, Dr. Brian Schultz, will join Pure Lithium as Vice President of Business Development and Technology. Dr. Schultz brings years of expertise in vanadium cathode innovation, having guided ZVO technology from early university research to commercially relevant prototypes. Alongside Dr. Schultz, other key members of the Dimien team will also transition to Pure Lithium, providing continuity and expertise in advancing the company’s next-generation battery development.

    Statements from Leadership

Emilie Bodoin, Founder and CEO of Pure Lithium, expressed enthusiasm over the acquisition:

We are speeding up the commercialization of our LVO battery with this acquisition. Dr. Schultz and his team have dedicated years to perfecting the vanadium cathode, which complements our lithium metal technology. His meticulous approach and deep scientific expertise will be invaluable to us.” She continued: Our lithium metal electrode production technology dramatically reduces costs. Combined with our LVO battery, we’ll deliver a next-gen battery that surpasses lithium-ion in safety and performance. This is not just an upgrade but a disruption in the industry that also secures the U.S. supply chain and decreases dependency on China.”

Dr. Schultz echoed this optimism, stating: “The sale of Dimien to Pure Lithium marks an exciting new chapter for us. I’ve closely followed Emilie’s work, and the pairing of our vanadium cathode with Pure Lithium’s technology will truly accelerate the commercial viability of advanced battery technologies. We’re eager to begin this next phase with the Pure Lithium team.”

    A Disruptive Battery Solution

Pure Lithium’s focus is on creating a safer and more sustainable battery ecosystem. With Dimien’s ZVO cathode materials and Pure Lithium’s innovative lithium metal anode technology, the resulting LVO battery promises to outperform traditional lithium-ion batteries, offering greater safety and performance. By eliminating the need for graphite, nickel, and cobalt, this new battery system addresses key sustainability challenges while securing the domestic supply of critical battery materials.

    A Game-Changer in Battery Technology

Vanadium, while not viable in traditional lithium-ion batteries, is an ideal match for Pure Lithium’s next-generation battery systems. This acquisition opens up an unprecedented opportunity for the company to lead the charge in the development of lithium metal batteries, positioning Pure Lithium at the forefront of the battery technology revolution.

The collaboration with Dimien marks an important milestone in Pure Lithium’s journey toward bringing game-changing battery technologies to market, ensuring a future that is both sustainable and technologically advanced.
