    Technology & Innovation

Teledyne DALSA, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technology has unveiled its latest breakthrough in high-performance imaging: the Linea™ HS2 TDI line scan camera family. Leveraging over 40 years of industry-leading expertise, the Linea HS2 represents a significant advancement in Time Delay and Integration (TDI) technology, offering unmatched speed, precision, and image quality. With a resolution of 16k/5 µm and an industry-leading line rate of 1 Megahertz, this camera delivers an astonishing 16 Gigapixels per second of data throughput, setting a new benchmark in high-speed imaging for light-starved environments.

    Cutting-Edge Features for High-Performance Applications

At the core of the Linea HS2 is an advanced Backside Illuminated (BSI) multi-array charge-domain TDI CMOS sensor, delivering a 16k resolution with 5 µm pixel size. Optimized for superior Quantum Efficiency, this advanced sensor meets the rigorous demands of both current and future machine vision applications. The multi-array TDI sensor architecture provides unparalleled flexibility, allowing the camera to be configured for maximized line rate, enhanced dynamic range, or increased full well capacity, depending on the specific needs of the application.

This flexibility makes the Linea HS2 ideal for a wide range of industries, including semiconductor wafer inspection, high-density interconnect inspection, flat-panel display manufacturing, and life sciences. On-chip binning further boosts system throughput by enabling higher web speeds, making the camera an excellent choice for industries that require both precision and speed in their inspection processes.

    Unmatched Connectivity and Stability

The Linea HS2 is equipped with dual Camera Link HS (CLHS) CX4 connectors, allowing for complete electromagnetic interference (EMI) immunity. These connectors work with active optical cables to ensure secure and reliable data transmission, even in the most demanding industrial environments. The camera’s seamless compatibility with existing optics, cables, and mounting hardware also ensures that customers can easily upgrade from the previous Linea HS series without needing to make significant changes to their systems.

In terms of speed, the Linea HS2 offers a 2.5 times increase over its predecessor, all while maintaining reasonable power consumption. For applications that demand continuous high-speed operation, an optional liquid cooling accessory is available, which ensures thermal stability during intensive use.

Integrated Solutions for a Complete Workflow

The Linea HS2 is designed to work in perfect harmony with Teledyne’s Xtium2 CLHS series of frame grabbers. These frame grabbers utilize next-generation CLHS technology to achieve data transmission rates of 16 Gigapixels per second via dual CLHS CX4 connectors. This high-speed transmission allows for rapid data forwarding, supporting parallel data processing across up to 12 PCs, making it ideal for applications that require real-time analysis and decision-making.

Showcasing at VISION 2024 in Stuttgart

Teledyne DALSA is set to present the Linea HS2 at the VISION 2024 exhibition, taking place in Stuttgart, Germany, from 8 to 10 October 2024 at booth 8 B10. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the Linea HS2 in action and learn more about how this cutting-edge camera can meet their imaging needs. For more information, visit the product page or reach out through the contact page for sales inquiries.

As a part of Teledyne’s Vision Solutions group, Teledyne DALSA continues to be a global leader in digital imaging components. The company’s range of sensors, cameras, frame grabbers, smart cameras, and vision software drives inspection systems used across various industries globally.
