Costa Rican Exporters Target Global Markets at Leading Trade Summit
From February 5 to 7, 2025, 18 Costa Rican companies participated in Fruit Logistica 2025, the world’s premier fruit and vegetable trade summit. The delegation, led by The Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Costa Rica (PROCOMER), aimed to attract international buyers and strengthen Costa Rica’s position as a leading exporter of fresh produce.
Showcasing Costa Rica’s Agricultural Excellence
The Costa Rican stand at Fruit Logistica 2025 presented a diverse selection of high-quality products, including:
- Fresh produce: Cassava, eddoes, taro, ginger, sugar cane, fresh and green pineapple, organic and premium bananas, malanga coco, malanga lila, white malanga, pumpkin, and more.
- Value-added products: Dried pineapple, banana flakes, and dried cocoa.
“This event is crucial for our fresh produce exports as it strengthens existing trade relationships while opening doors to new business opportunities,” said Mario Saenz, PROCOMER’s Export Development Manager. “Through our participation, we continue to expand our diverse product offerings in international markets and solidify Costa Rica’s presence in global agricultural trade.”
Costa Rica’s Strength in Global Agricultural Exports
According to PROCOMER’s December 2024 data, Costa Rica’s agricultural (18%) and food sectors (13%) hold the second and third positions in importance within the country’s goods exports.
Additionally, insights from the International Trade Centre (ITC) reveal Costa Rica’s leading role in the agricultural sector:
- #1 global exporter of pineapples
